The Cleveland RTZ and TaylorMade MG5 are priced the same at $149.99, both are forged, both come in chrome, and both use progressive lofts. What separates them is fitting range. The RTZ runs from 46° to 64° across 11 lofts, with bounce from 4° to 12° and four grinds: Adapt, Full, Low and Mid. The MG5 covers 46° to 60° in 8 lofts, with bounce from 7° to 14° and three grinds, LB, SB and HT. If you want a 62° or 64° lob wedge, or a very low 4° bounce for firm turf and a shallow attack, only the RTZ has it. If you need the most bounce available, the MG5 goes higher with its 14° HT option. The RTZ adds variable face thickness. The MG5 has a raw face.
Pick the Cleveland RTZ if fit is your priority. More lofts, more grinds and a wider bounce range make it easier to build a set that matches your gaps and your turf. Pick the TaylorMade MG5 if you play soft conditions or dig with a steep attack and want the highest bounce on offer, or if you prefer a raw face. Price is a wash, so let your turf and your gapping decide.
