The TaylorMade MG4 and TaylorMade MG5 share a $149.99 MSRP, a chrome finish and the same 46° to 60° loft spread, so the split comes down to fitting options. The MG4 offers one sole, the SB grind, with bounce from 7° to 10°. The MG5 adds LB and HT grinds and extends bounce to 14°, so a steep player on soft turf and a sweeper on firm ground can both find a match. Only the MG5 carries the Raw Face tag. A golfer who plays a neutral sole in the mid bounce band loses little with the MG4. A golfer who needs low bounce for tight lies or high bounce for sand has a clear reason to want the MG5.
Buy the MG5 if fit matters most. At the same MSRP it gives you three grinds and the full bounce range for nothing extra. Pick the MG4 if price matters most. It is the older model by a year, which usually means it turns up discounted, and its SB grind covers the common middle ground. Both are forged, so nothing here separates them on feel.
