Low Spin

Tour Fairway Wood

The Ping G410 LST is the driver Ping built for players who lose distance to too much spin. LST stands for Low Spin, and that is the whole point of this head. At 450cc, it sits a touch smaller than the standard G410 Plus, and the shape looks a little more compact behind the ball, which is exactly what a lot of faster swingers want to see at address.

If you have a swing that produces high spin and a ballooning ball flight, this is the club that flattens things out. It brings the launch down and takes revolutions off the ball, so your drives climb less and run more. That trade only pays off if you swing hard enough to keep the ball in the air, though. Slower swing speeds can leave shots landing short because there is not enough spin to carry them.

This is a Tour-category driver, and it plays like one. It is not trying to be the most forgiving club in the bag. It is built to reward good strikes with a flatter, faster, more penetrating flight that holds its line in the wind.

  • You swing above 100 mph and spin the ball too much off the tee.
  • Your drives balloon and fall out of the sky instead of running out.
  • You want a more compact, tour-shaped head at address rather than a large draw-biased profile.
  • You value a penetrating ball flight that cuts through wind over maximum carry height.
  • You can find the center of the face often enough to live without max-forgiveness help.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does LST mean on the Ping G410?
LST is Low Spin. It is the reduced-spin model in the G410 driver family, built to bring launch and spin down for faster swingers who lose distance to a ball flight that climbs too high.
Who should not buy the G410 LST?
Slower and moderate swing speeds usually should not. If you do not already spin the ball a lot, taking more spin off can leave your drives landing short. Those players are better off in the standard G410 Plus, which launches higher and carries easier.
How is the G410 LST different from the G410 Plus?
The LST head is 450cc versus 455cc on the Plus, and it is tuned for lower launch and lower spin. The Plus is the more forgiving, higher-launching all-around driver. The LST is the specialist for high-spin, high-speed players.
Is the G410 LST forgiving?
For a low-spin tour head, it holds up reasonably well thanks to the tungsten back weighting. It is not as forgiving as the bigger G410 Plus, though. Miss the center often and you will feel it more than you would in a max-game-improvement driver.
Will the G410 LST help my slice?
No, that is not its job. The LST is a neutral to low-spin head aimed at ball flight, not a draw-biased slice fighter. If a slice is your main problem, the draw-oriented G410 SFT is the model in this lineup built for that.
