Ping built the G LS Tec for one job: knock spin off the shot without asking you to give up the forgiveness the G line is known for. LS stands for Low Spin, and this is the driver Ping pointed at faster swingers who launch the ball fine but watch it balloon and fall short. At 440cc the head is a touch smaller than the standard 460cc G, which gives it a more compact look at address that better players tend to prefer.
The recipe here is a low, forward center of gravity. Ping used a tungsten weight positioned low and toward the face, and that placement is what strips spin off your drives. Less spin means a flatter, more penetrating ball flight and more roll when it lands. You still get the turbulators across the crown and the thin Dragonfly crown that let Ping move weight where it counts, so this isn't a spin-killer that punishes you on off-center hits.
Think of it as the tour-minded member of the 2016 G family. If your normal driver leaves the ball hanging in the air too long, the LS Tec brings the trajectory down and gets you extra yards on the ground rather than in the sky.
