The Callaway Opus SP and the Callaway Opus share a name and a $159.99 price, but they are built for different players. The Opus SP is a tour grind wedge with five grinds (C, S, T, W and X) and bounce from 7° to 14°, so a golfer who knows how they deliver the club can match a sole shape to their turf and attack angle. Lofts run from 48° to 64°. It is forged and uses progressive lofts. The Opus is a versatile wedge with a single S grind, bounce from 8° to 12°, and lofts from 46° to 60°. It is a cavity back with vibration dampening, which points it at players who want a wedge that works from most lies without much fitting.
Pick the Opus SP if you want to dial in grind and bounce for specific shots around the green, or if you need a 64° or a forged head. Pick the Opus if you value forgiveness and a simpler choice, or if you want a 46° option. Price does not split them at MSRP, but the Opus is the 2024 model and the Opus SP the 2025 model, so the older Opus is the one more likely to be discounted.
