Mini drivers used to be a niche curiosity. Then guys started noticing that a 280cc head off a shorter shaft found fairways their 460cc driver couldn't, and suddenly every brand needed one. The GT280 is Titleist's entry for 2026, and it plays like a real club rather than a marketing exercise. Think of it as the answer to a specific question: what do you hit on the tight par 4 where driver brings trouble into play and a 3-wood leaves you too far back?
At address it looks like a shrunken GT driver, which is the point. You get the confidence of a driver shape without the full footprint, and the shorter build makes it far easier to control than anything at 45.5 inches. Off the tee it flies lower and straighter than a driver. Off the deck it's more forgiving than most 3-woods. That dual role is the whole pitch.
One honest caveat up front. This is not a distance replacement for your driver. Expect to give up 10 to 20 yards against a well-struck big stick. What you're buying is dispersion, and for a lot of players that trade pays for itself by the third round.
