Game Improvement Driver

HD stands for High Draw, not "high definition." A lot of golfers pick this up expecting something different, so worth clarifying before you spend money. The Stealth 2 HD is TaylorMade's draw-biased option for 2023, built specifically for players who miss right and have accepted that a standard driver isn't doing enough to fix it.

The 60-layer carbon fiber face carries over from the original Stealth line. Carbon is lighter than titanium, so TaylorMade uses that saved weight to position mass lower in the head and toward the heel. That heel-side weighting closes the face and promotes a draw at impact. Combined with the high launch profile, the ball gets up fast and moves left. If your miss is right, the whole setup is working against it.

The adjustable hosel lets you shift loft a couple degrees in either direction, which gives you room to experiment without booking a fitting appointment. It won't replace a proper fitting, but it's more flexibility than most players use.

  • Mid-to-high handicap players who consistently miss right and haven't found a fix with a standard driver.
  • Anyone upgrading from an older, non-adjustable driver who wants the option to tinker with loft settings without a full custom fitting.
  • Players who want maximum forgiveness from a full 460cc head with high launch built in, not bolted on as an afterthought.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does HD stand for in TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD?
High Draw. The HD has draw-biased weighting with more mass toward the heel and a closed face angle at address. The whole setup is designed to promote right-to-left ball flight for players who fight a slice.
How is the Stealth 2 HD different from the regular Stealth 2?
The HD has a noticeably more closed face angle at address and more heel-side mass than the standard Stealth 2 or the Stealth 2 Plus. Most testing puts the draw bias at roughly 10-15 yards of curve compared to a standard head, though that number moves depending on swing speed and path.
Is the Stealth 2 HD good for high handicappers?
Yes. The high launch profile, full 460cc head, and draw bias all point in the same direction for the typical high handicapper. It helps push the ball up and counteract a right-miss tendency at the same time. That combination is hard to find in a single head.
Can you adjust the loft on the Stealth 2 HD?
Yes. It has a 12-position adjustable hosel that shifts loft up to two degrees in either direction from the stock setting. Depending on how you position the sleeve, you'll also get a slight change in face angle.
What loft options does the Stealth 2 HD come in?
The Stealth 2 HD is available in 10.5° and 12°. Both come with the adjustable hosel.
