The Cobra OPTM X and Cobra OPTM LS share a 460cc head, an adjustable hosel, the same 9° and 10.5° loft options and the same $549 MSRP. The split is in category and tags. The OPTM X is a players distance driver tagged High Launch, which points to a head built to get the ball up easily and keep it there. The OPTM LS is a tour driver tagged Low Spin, which points to a flatter, more penetrating flight and, as a tour head, less help on off-center strikes. The LS also lists two stock shafts, the Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 in x-stiff and the Ventus Blue 6 in stiff, while the X ships with the Ventus Blue 6 in stiff only. Golfers who need help launching the ball, or who want more margin on mishits, fit the OPTM X. Faster swingers who already launch high and fight spin fit the OPTM LS.
With price and lofts identical, the choice comes down to ball flight. Pick the Cobra OPTM LS if you have the speed to use an x-stiff shaft and your misses cost you spin rather than height. Pick the Cobra OPTM X if forgiveness and easy launch matter more than chasing the lowest spin. Budget will not decide this one. Your flight will.
