On paper the Cobra DS-Adapt MAX and the PXG Lightning Max-10K+ line up closely. Both are 460cc game improvement heads with an adjustable hosel, both carry a High Launch tag, and both list at $499. The real split is loft. The DS-Adapt MAX comes in 10.5° and 12°, while the Lightning Max-10K+ adds a 9° option to those two. That lower loft matters for faster swings that fight spin. The stock shafts differ too. The Lightning Max-10K+ ships with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 5 in regular flex, the DS-Adapt MAX with an Aldila Ascent 50, and both use the Aldila Ascent 45 for senior flex.
The Lightning Max-10K+ is the newer design by a year, 2026 against 2025, and it offers one more loft. If you swing fast enough to want 9°, or you simply want the current model, it is the pick. If you fit in 10.5° or 12°, the DS-Adapt MAX gives you the same head size, the same adjustability and the same list price, and as the older release it is the one more likely to turn up discounted. For most golfers buying on price, that makes the Cobra the smarter buy. For golfers buying on loft choice or the latest release, choose the PXG.
