The PLD Milled AS Oslo C is Ping's fang-style mallet built for golfers who want maximum stability without switching to an oversized blob of a putter head. Oslo has been in Ping's lineup for years as a compact mallet with rear wings, and the PLD Milled treatment takes that shape and cuts it from a solid block of stainless steel. This is the milled, premium version, not the cast production model, so the feel off the face and the finish quality are a step up.
It's face balanced, which tells you most of what you need to know about the intended stroke. If your putter face stays square through the ball with very little arc, this head will feel natural in your hands. The high MOI build keeps the face from twisting when you catch a putt off the toe or heel, so mishit speed control holds up better than it would on a smaller blade.
The alignment aid is the other half of the pitch. Oslo's shape already frames the ball with its wings, and the sightline gives you a clear reference to square the face at address. Put together, you get a putter that helps you aim and then protects you when your stroke isn't perfect.
The head is milled from stainless steel, which gives the Oslo C a firmer, more precise sound and feel than a soft insert putter. Ping typically pairs its PLD Milled heads with an aluminum face milling pattern or a machined face texture to keep the roll consistent, and the fang layout pushes weight to the perimeter and back to raise MOI. The rear wings do the heavy lifting on forgiveness, while the compact front keeps the profile from feeling bulky over the ball. Face balancing comes from where the mass sits relative to the shaft axis, so the face wants to stay square rather than open and close through the stroke. The alignment feature runs along the top of the head to help you set the face at your target line. As a milled PLD product, it also carries the premium finish and grip options Ping offers on this tier, so the whole package looks and feels like a tour-shop putter rather than an off-the-rack one.
Ping invented the heel-toe weighted blade (the original Anser) and continues to innovate in weight distribution and forgiveness. Their PLD line offers tour-level milled putters with Ping's signature engineering.
