Byron Morgan doesn't make putters for the mass market, and the 007 makes no apologies for that. This is a hand-finished blade milled in small batches in Southern California, built the way boutique putters were made before multi-material inserts and adjustable weights took over the category. The 2020 version of the 007 is essentially a wider-bodied take on Morgan's classic Anser-style shape, with a fuller flange that gives it a touch more presence behind the ball without drifting into mid-mallet territory.
What you're paying for here is milling quality and feel. Morgan typically works in soft 303 stainless or carbon steel, and the 007 has that dense, muted click at impact that milled-blade loyalists chase. There's no insert, no face grooves doing tricks with roll, no sight line unless you order one. Just a clean top line, a plumber's neck, and mid toe hang that wants a stroke with some arc to it.
If you putt straight back and straight through, or you rely on alignment aids to aim, this probably isn't your putter. But if you release the toe through impact and you aim off the top edge, the 007 is one of the purest-feeling blades you can put in the bag.
The 007 is a one-piece milled blade with a wider flange than Morgan's 006, which adds a little heel-toe stability while keeping the compact look blade players want at address. Mid toe hang comes from the plumber's neck configuration, matching the putter to strokes with a moderate arc, the most common stroke type among better players. The face is flat milled with no insert, so feedback is honest. Miss it toward the toe and you'll know immediately. There is no alignment aid on the standard 2020 head, and that's a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. Morgan's customers tend to aim using the leading edge and the frame of the head itself, and the clean crown keeps the address view uncluttered. Because these are made to order, finish, stamping, neck style, and head weight vary from putter to putter, which is part of the appeal and part of why no two 007s on the used market look quite alike.
