Nike Vapor Pro Combo 铁杆

选手腔背2015

The Vapor Pro Combo came out during Nike's last real push in the club business, and it might be the best iron the company ever made. It sat in the middle of the 2015 Vapor lineup, between the Vapor Pro blade that Rory McIlroy played and the game-improvement Vapor Speed. The idea was simple: give better players most of the blade's feel and control, then add just enough forgiveness that a slightly thin 5-iron doesn't ruin the hole.

Nike built the set around what it called Modern Muscle geometry, which moved the center of gravity toward the middle of the face instead of letting it drift toward the heel like traditional cavity backs. Behind the face sits an RZN insert, the same resin material Nike used in its golf balls, tucked into the cavity to dampen vibration. The result is a forged players cavity that feels soft without feeling dead.

Here's the awkward part. Nike quit making clubs in August 2016, so the Vapor Pro Combo never got a successor. That killed its resale value, which is bad news for people who bought it new and great news for you. On the used market this is one of the better values in the players cavity category, full stop.

简而言之

The Nike Vapor Pro Combo (2015) is a players cavity that adds forgiveness without much extra size.

About the Nike Vapor Pro Combo

The Combo in the name refers to the progressive set construction. The long irons carry a deeper cavity and a bit more offset to help you launch them, while the scoring irons slim down toward a near-blade profile with a shallower pocket. At address the 8-iron through pitching wedge look like clubs that expect you to know what you're doing. Topline is thin, blade length is compact, and there's minimal offset where it counts. Cosmetically, this is peak Nike. The Volt green accents in the cavity split opinion when the club launched, and they still do. Some players love the look, others wish it were quieter. Either way the shaping underneath is clean, and the satin finish has held up well on most used examples you'll find today.

Who Should Play the Nike Vapor Pro Combo?

  • Mid to low handicappers who want forged feel with a small safety net in the long irons.
  • Bargain hunters, since Nike's exit from equipment means these sell used for far less than comparable forged cavities from Titleist or Mizuno.
  • Players moving down from a game-improvement set who aren't ready for a full blade.
  • Anyone who liked the idea of a combo set but doesn't want to piece one together from two different models.

常见问题

Are the Nike Vapor Pro Combo irons forged or cast?

They're forged, with an RZN resin insert added in the cavity to soften impact feel further. Feel at impact is closer to a Mizuno or Titleist CB than most people expect from Nike.

Are the Vapor Pro Combos still worth buying in 2026?

For the price, yes. You're giving up about a decade of incremental forgiveness and ball speed gains versus a current players cavity, but the shaping, feel, and turf interaction hold up. A clean used set often costs less than a single new iron from a current premium lineup.

What handicap range suits the Vapor Pro Combo?

Roughly a 5 to 15 handicap. The progressive design helps in the long irons, but the compact short irons punish sloppy contact enough that true beginners should look at the Vapor Speed instead.

Why did Nike stop making the Vapor irons?

Nike exited the golf equipment business entirely in August 2016 to focus on shoes and apparel. It wasn't about this iron's quality. The Vapor Pro Combo reviewed well and was in play on tour.

Can I still get the Vapor Pro Combo repaired or reshafted?

Reshafting is no problem, since any competent club builder can handle standard hosels. Original replacement heads and Nike warranty support are gone, though, so buy a set with heads in good condition.
