Low Spin

Tour 一号木

The TS3 was Titleist's answer to a question a lot of better players were asking in 2018: how do you get a low-spin, workable head that still holds its line? This is the 440cc member of the TS line, sitting a notch below the 460cc TS2 in size and forgiveness but ahead of it in adjustability and shot control. Titleist called the project "Titleist Speed," and the whole point was chasing ball speed by shaving weight off the crown and reworking the shape to move through the air faster.

What sets the TS3 apart from its bigger sibling is the SureFit CG weight. It's a small adjustable weight in the sole that lets you shift the center of gravity toward a draw or fade bias, or leave it neutral. Combine that with the 16-position SureFit hosel for loft and lie, and you get a driver you can genuinely dial in rather than just tolerate. Spin runs low here, which is a gift if you deliver enough speed and a curse if you tend to hit down on it.

This is not a game-improvement club dressed up in a tour paint job. The 440cc head asks you to find the middle of the face, and it rewards you when you do with a flatter, more penetrating flight. Mid to low handicappers and anyone with real clubhead speed will get the most out of it.

  • Faster swingers who already produce plenty of spin and want to knock it down for a flatter, longer ball flight.
  • Better players who want to work the ball both ways and use the SureFit CG weight to set a draw or fade bias.
  • Anyone coming off a 917D2 or 917D3 who wants the same tour feel with more ball speed and easier adjustability.
  • Players who consistently find the center of the face and don't need a 460cc head to bail them out on misses.

常见问题

What's the difference between the Titleist TS3 and TS2?
The TS2 is the full 460cc head built for higher launch and more forgiveness, with a fixed weight setup. The TS3 is 440cc, lower spinning, and adds the SureFit CG adjustable weight so you can bias it draw, neutral, or fade. If you want maximum help on off-center hits, the TS2 is friendlier. If you want workability and a flatter flight, the TS3 is the pick.
Is the Titleist TS3 a low-spin driver?
Yes. The thinner crown and lower, deeper center of gravity bring spin down compared to the 917 series and the TS2. That helps players with enough speed hit a penetrating flight, but if you struggle to get the ball up or tend to hit down on the driver, the low spin can cost you carry.
How does the SureFit CG weight on the TS3 work?
It's an adjustable weight in the sole that shifts the center of gravity heel or toe side. Set it toward the heel for a draw bias, toward the toe for a fade bias, or leave it neutral. It changes shot shape without forcing you to change your hosel loft or lie settings, which are handled separately by the 16-position SureFit hosel.
What lofts does the Titleist TS3 come in?
Stock lofts are 8.5, 9.5, and 10.5 degrees, and the SureFit hosel lets you adjust each up or down about 1.5 degrees across 16 independent loft and lie positions. That range covers most swing speeds, though the low-spin design leans toward players who generate their own ball speed.
Is the TS3 still worth buying used?
For the right player, yes. It came out in late 2018, so prices on the used market are reasonable now, and the tour-level feel and adjustability hold up. Just be honest about your speed and strike. This is a 440cc low-spin head that rewards center contact and does not pretend to be a forgiveness machine.
