What data does GolfSource use for iron specifications?

All loft angles, lie angles, and club lengths in our database come from publicly available manufacturer specifications, official product pages, and industry publications. We currently cover 2,400+ iron sets across 51 brands. Specs are periodically verified and updated.

Do I need to create an account to use GolfSource?

Accepted Answer

No. You can run the iron matching tool, browse the iron database, and compare iron sets without signing in. An optional account lets you save your results and baseline profile across sessions.

What is the difference between Game Improvement and Players Distance irons?

Accepted Answer

Game Improvement irons prioritise forgiveness — they have wider soles, more perimeter weighting, and often stronger lofts to help mis-hits still travel a reasonable distance. Players Distance irons are designed for better ball-strikers who want extra yardage from forged or hollow-body construction without sacrificing too much feedback.

No — and we’re transparent about that. GolfSource uses your carry distances, swing speed, ball flight, and miss tendency to match you with iron sets that fit your game. But a certified fitter considers additional factors (shaft flex, swing path, ball speed, impact location) that no online tool can replicate. How often is the iron database updated?

We add new iron sets as manufacturers release them (typically following major trade shows in January and August) and update existing specs when manufacturers publish corrections. If you spot an inaccuracy, use the Contact page to flag it — we review every report.
