Most mallets show up with a line down the crown, a set of dots, or some version of railroad tracks pointing at the hole. The 2026 Toulon Design Leucadia has none of that. The top of the head is clean, and how you feel about that will probably decide whether this putter ever makes it into your bag. Some golfers aim better without a line to argue with. Others need the reference and will fight the blank crown all day.

The other thing worth knowing before anything else is the hosel setup. This is a mallet with mid toe hang, which is not the default. Plenty of mallets are built face balanced so the head resists rotation and stays square through a short, straight stroke. Leucadia goes the other way. Why doesn't the Toulon Leucadia have an alignment line?

Toulon builds a lot of putters with clean crowns on purpose. The argument is that a painted line gives your eyes something to line up that isn't the face itself, and a lot of golfers end up aiming the line rather than the putter. Without one, you aim off the face and the shape of the head. It works well for players who already aim accurately and poorly for players who don't. Take one to a putting green with a chalk line and check your aim honestly before you buy.

Is the Leucadia face balanced?

No. It has mid toe hang, which means the toe points down at roughly 45 degrees when you balance the shaft. Face balanced mallets sit with the face pointing straight up. That difference changes how much the head naturally rotates during your stroke, and mid toe hang suits a moderate arc rather than a straight back and through motion.

What kind of putting stroke fits mid toe hang?

An arcing one. If your putter head travels slightly inside on the backswing, squares up at impact, and moves back inside through the finish, mid toe hang lets that happen without you forcing it. If you fight to keep the face square to the line the whole way, a face-balanced head will feel much easier. A quick way to check: film your stroke from above and watch whether the face angle changes relative to the path. If it does, you're an arc putter.

How is this different from a standard face-balanced mallet?

Same basic benefit from the head shape, opposite behavior from the hosel. A face-balanced mallet like the Odyssey Seven shape resists opening and closing, which suits golfers who want the face to stay square. Is a Toulon putter worth it over a standard Odyssey?
