The name comes from Ping's own prototyping process. Tour players like Louis Oosthuizen had been testing versions of this head long before it went on sale, and the retail club is essentially that tour prototype with a price tag. Each head starts as forged 8620 carbon steel and goes through a four-step forging process before machining. That matters because Ping had historically been a casting company, so committing to a full forging for the Blueprint was a real shift in how they build irons. The compact shape carries a machined tungsten toe screw, which lets fitters fine-tune swingweight without lead tape and quietly nudges the center of gravity toward the middle of the face.
