High Launch

Game Improvement Fairway Wood

The Cleveland Launcher XL is built for one job: get the ball up and keep your bad shots playable. This is the larger of Cleveland's game improvement irons, with an oversized head, a wide sole, and a low center of gravity that does most of the launch work for you. If you've been fighting low, thin strikes or struggling to hold greens, this is the kind of iron that quietly fixes a lot of that.

Cleveland leaned on two things here. The face uses their MainFrame variable-thickness pattern, which is a grid of different thicknesses milled into the back of the face to boost ball speed across more of the hitting area. Then there's the Action Mass CB weighting, where extra mass sits at the back of the grip cap. The idea is to balance the club so it's easier to square up at impact, which helps slower and moderate swing speeds deliver the face more consistently.

None of this makes the Launcher XL a players iron, and it isn't trying to be. The lofts are strong, the head is big, and the look at address is chunky. What you get in return is forgiveness on mishits and a high, soft-landing ball flight that a lot of mid and higher handicappers have been missing.

  • Mid to high handicappers who need help getting the ball airborne and holding greens.
  • Slower and moderate swing speeds that benefit from the lightweight graphite options and counterbalanced feel.
  • Players coming back from a long break or moving up from a hybrid-heavy bag who want maximum forgiveness over workability.

Câu hỏi thường gặp

What's the difference between the Launcher XL and the Launcher XL Halo?
The Launcher XL is a more traditional iron shape with a wider sole and the Action Mass CB grip weighting. The Halo is a hollow, hybrid-style design with a more rounded, utility look meant to be even easier to launch. If you want something that still resembles an iron, the XL is the one. If you want maximum forgiveness and don't care about the chunkier hybrid look, the Halo goes further.
Are the Launcher XL irons good for high handicappers?
Yes, this is squarely a game improvement set aimed at mid and high handicappers. The big head, wide sole, low CG, and MainFrame face all work to make mishits more playable and get the ball up easily. If you shoot in the 90s or higher and struggle with low or thin contact, these are an easy fit.
What is Action Mass CB on the Launcher XL?
Action Mass CB is extra weight added at the end of the grip. It counterbalances the club and shifts the balance point higher up the shaft, which helps you square the face at impact and gives the iron a more controlled feel through the swing. It's especially helpful for moderate swing speeds.
Are the Launcher XL irons adjustable?
No, these are fixed-loft irons with no adjustable hosel. You set them up at fitting through shaft choice, flex, length, and lie. The lofts are on the stronger side for the category, which is part of how Cleveland gets the distance and high launch out of them.
Do the Launcher XL irons come in graphite shafts?
Yes, Cleveland offers the Launcher XL in both steel and graphite. The graphite options are lighter and pair well with the high-launch design, which makes this a solid choice for players with slower swing speeds who want help with ball speed and height.
