High Launch

Game Improvement Driver

The SIM2 Max is TaylorMade's forgiveness driver for 2021, the middle child between the standard SIM2 and the draw-biased SIM2 Max D. It is built for the golfer who wants distance without needing to strike the center of the face every time. Big head, big face, high launch, and a lot of stability when you miss.

The change that matters most from the original SIM is the Forged Ring Construction. TaylorMade wrapped the body in a single lightweight aluminum ring instead of bolting separate pieces together, which freed up weight to move where it helps. That saved mass went into a 24-gram steel weight low and back in the sole, pushing the center of gravity down and away from the face. The result is a driver that gets the ball airborne easily and holds its line on heel and toe misses.

At 460cc with an adjustable loft sleeve, the SIM2 Max is a true game-improvement club. It is not the low-spin bomber for tour players, that is what the standard SIM2 and the Rocket-style heads are for. This one trades a little spin control for a bigger margin of error, and for most amateurs that is the right trade.

  • Mid and higher handicappers who want maximum forgiveness and easy launch without paying for a low-spin head they cannot control
  • Players who catch the ball across the whole face and need the larger face and Twist Face correction to keep mishits playable
  • Moderate swing speeds that benefit from the low-back weighting to get the ball up and carrying
  • Golfers upgrading from an older SIM Max or M-series driver who want the same easy launch with a higher-MOI, larger-faced head

Câu hỏi thường gặp

What is the difference between the SIM2 Max and the standard SIM2?
The SIM2 Max is the more forgiving of the two. It has a larger face, a higher MOI, and a fixed 24-gram weight set low and back for easy launch and stability. The standard SIM2 has a sliding weight track that lets better players adjust shot shape and generally produces a bit less spin. If you want forgiveness and easy height, choose the Max. If you shape shots and want to dial in spin, look at the standard SIM2.
Is the SIM2 Max good for a slice?
It helps, but it is not the dedicated slice-killer in the lineup. Twist Face corrects the high-toe strike that many slicers hit, and the loft sleeve lets you close the face slightly for a more draw-friendly setup. If you slice badly and want the most draw bias TaylorMade offers, the SIM2 Max D is built specifically for that with weighting shifted toward the heel.
Is the SIM2 Max adjustable?
It has an adjustable loft sleeve that changes loft and face angle across a range around the stated head loft, so you can fine-tune launch and start direction. It does not have a movable or sliding sole weight. The 24-gram back weight is fixed in place to keep the center of gravity low and back for forgiveness.
What swing speed is the SIM2 Max best for?
It works well across a wide range but shines for moderate swing speeds that want help getting the ball in the air. The low-back weighting and Speed Pocket protect carry distance on strikes that would come up short with a lower-spinning driver. Very fast swingers who spin the ball too much may prefer the standard SIM2 or a lower-spin head.
How does the SIM2 Max compare to the original SIM Max?
The biggest change is Forged Ring Construction, which replaced the older multi-material assembly with a single aluminum ring around the body. That saved weight lets TaylorMade run a larger face and a heavier low-back weight on the SIM2 Max, so it launches a touch higher and is more forgiving on off-center hits than the SIM Max it replaced.
