High Launch

Max Game Improvement Driver

The SIM Max D is TaylorMade's slice-fighter for 2020, the draw-biased member of the original SIM driver family. The D stands for draw, and that is the whole point of the club. It takes the big, forgiving SIM Max head and shifts weight toward the heel so the face wants to close through impact, which nudges your ball flight back to the left and away from the right rough.

The headline piece of hardware is the Inertia Generator, a heavy slug of weight sitting at the very back of the sole. On the SIM Max D that mass is positioned to build in draw bias while still keeping the center of gravity low and deep for high launch and stability. TaylorMade also carried over Speed Injected Twist Face, where every head is tuned to the legal ball-speed limit and the face is curved to add loft high on the toe, exactly where a slicer tends to catch it.

At 460cc with an adjustable loft sleeve, this is a full game-improvement driver aimed at one specific problem. If your miss is a slice or a weak fade that leaks right, the SIM Max D is built to help. If you already draw the ball or work it both ways, the standard SIM Max or SIM is the better fit, because the draw bias here will just turn your good shots into pulls.

  • Players whose reliable miss is a slice or a fade that drifts into the right rough and want a club that fights it without swing changes
  • Higher and mid handicappers who want maximum forgiveness plus a built-in draw bias in one head
  • Moderate swing speeds that need the low-deep weighting to launch the ball high and hold carry distance
  • Golfers who tried a neutral game-improvement driver and still fought the right side of the course

Câu hỏi thường gặp

What is the difference between the SIM Max D and the regular SIM Max?
Both share the same 460cc forgiving head, the Inertia Generator, Twist Face, and the Speed Pocket. The difference is weight placement. The SIM Max D shifts mass toward the heel to promote a draw and fight a slice, while the standard SIM Max keeps a more neutral setup. If your miss goes right, choose the D. If your flight is already straight or you draw the ball, the standard SIM Max is the safer pick.
Will the SIM Max D fix my slice?
It will help, and for a lot of slicers it is enough to turn a fade into a straight ball. The heel-weighted Inertia Generator encourages the face to close, and Twist Face corrects the high-toe strike that many slicers hit. It is not a guaranteed cure for a severe slice caused by an open face and out-to-in path, but it moves your flight left and gives you a bigger margin. You can also close the face through the loft sleeve for even more help.
Is the SIM Max D adjustable?
It has an adjustable loft sleeve that changes loft and face angle across a range around the stated head loft, so you can fine-tune launch and add draw bias by closing the face. It does not have a movable or sliding sole weight. The draw bias comes from the fixed heel weighting in the Inertia Generator, not from a track you adjust.
What swing speed is the SIM Max D best for?
It fits a wide range but is at its best for moderate swing speeds that want help getting the ball airborne and holding a right-to-left flight. The low, deep weighting launches the ball high and the Speed Pocket protects carry on strikes low on the face. Very fast swingers who already draw the ball may find the bias overcooks their shots into pulls.
Should I get the SIM Max D or wait for the SIM2 Max D?
The 2020 SIM Max D and the 2021 SIM2 Max D chase the same goal, a forgiving driver with built-in draw bias. The SIM2 Max D added Forged Ring Construction to save weight and a larger face for more forgiveness. If you can find a SIM Max D at a discount, it is a strong value that does the same job. If you want the latest face and a bit more stability on mishits, the SIM2 Max D is the step up.
