Tour Driver

The Vapor Fly Pro was Nike's last real swing at the driver market, and it shows what the company had figured out right before walking away. Released in 2016, it took the Covert Cavity Back concept Nike had been refining for three generations and paired it with a full 460cc head, giving better players tour-level spin numbers without shrinking the profile down to something intimidating. Rory McIlroy put it in play, which tells you the ceiling here is high.

This is the Pro version, so the fitting brief is different from the standard Vapor Fly. Where the regular model chased launch and forgiveness, the Pro sits deeper and spins less, built for players who generate their own speed and want a flatter, more penetrating flight. The volt-and-blue crown was divisive when it launched. Some golfers loved it, plenty didn't, but nobody confused it with anything else in a bag.

Nike exited the equipment business in August 2016, months after this club hit shelves. That makes the Vapor Fly Pro a dead-end product line, but also a genuine value on the used market. The performance didn't expire when the brand did.

  • Faster swingers who spin the standard Vapor Fly too much and want a flatter, more workable flight.
  • Single-digit handicaps hunting a proven tour head on the used market without paying current-model prices.
  • Players who prefer to lock in one loft and shaft setup rather than fiddle with an adjustable hosel.

Câu hỏi thường gặp

What's the difference between the Nike Vapor Fly and the Vapor Fly Pro?
The standard Vapor Fly launches higher, spins more, and is the more forgiving of the two. The Pro has a deeper face and a more compact shape from address, with lower spin aimed at faster swings. If your driver swing is under roughly 95 mph, the standard model is probably the better fit.
Is the Vapor Fly Pro adjustable?
This head is a fixed-hosel design, so you can't change loft or lie after purchase. That makes trying before you buy more important than usual. If you're shopping used, confirm the loft on the head matches what you actually need.
Did Rory McIlroy use the Vapor Fly Pro?
Yes. McIlroy gamed Nike woods through 2016 and the Vapor Fly Pro was in his bag until the company stopped making clubs and he moved to other manufacturers in 2017. Several other Nike staffers played it that season as well.
Is the Vapor Fly Pro still worth buying now that Nike quit making clubs?
For the money, often yes. Driver technology moves slower than marketing suggests, and a tour-level 2016 head still performs within a few yards of much newer clubs for most players. The catch is support. There are no replacement parts or warranty, so inspect the face and crown carefully before buying used.
What does the cavity back on the sole actually do?
Pulling mass out of the rear center and redistributing it around the cavity lets Nike push weight toward the perimeter, which helps the head resist twisting on off-center strikes. The FlyBeam ribs inside the cavity keep the structure stiff, so the design adds stability without going soft at impact.
