Low Spin

Tour ドライバー

The G400 LST is Ping's answer for the player who hits it high and spins it too much. LST stands for Low Spin Technology, and that's exactly what this head does. At 440cc it's the smallest of the three G400 driver shapes, sitting below the standard G400 and well below the oversized G400 Max. That smaller footprint isn't a gimmick. It lets Ping push the center of gravity lower and more forward, which is what knocks spin off your driver ball flight.

This is a driver for good players. If your swing speed is up there and you're seeing 3,000-plus rpm of driver spin ballooning your shots into the wind, the LST is built to fix that. Ping put a heavier tungsten back weight in the sole and used its Dragonfly crown, a very thin crown section that frees up weight to move where it actually helps. The forged T9S+ face is hot and thin, so you don't give up ball speed to get the lower spin.

Where it lands: the LST is the tour-inspired option in the G400 family, but it still carries a good chunk of Ping's forgiveness. It won't be as bomb-proof on mishits as the Max, and it asks for a repeatable swing. Deliver the club well and you get a flatter, more penetrating flight that runs out. Deliver it poorly and it'll let you know.

  • Faster swingers seeing 3,000 rpm or more of driver spin who need a flatter, more efficient ball flight
  • Players who already launch it high and lose distance to the ball climbing instead of carrying
  • Better ball strikers who want a smaller 440cc head they can work and control off the tee
  • Anyone fighting a wind-sensitive, floaty drive that needs to come down and run out

よくある質問

What's the difference between the Ping G400 LST and the standard G400?
The LST is smaller at 440cc versus 445cc and has a tungsten weight positioned low and forward to cut spin. It launches lower and spins less, which suits faster, higher-spin players. The standard G400 sits a bit higher and spins a little more, making it the more all-around option for a wider range of swings.
Who should not buy the G400 LST?
If you have moderate swing speed or already struggle to get the ball airborne, the low-spin design will cost you carry and forgiveness. Slower swingers are usually better off with the standard G400 or the G400 Max, which launch higher and hold spin for more carry.
What lofts does the G400 LST come in?
It's offered in 8.5 and 10 degree heads. The Trajectory Tuning 2.0 adjustable hosel lets you fine-tune loft up or down by a degree from there, plus a lie adjustment, so you have real range around your baseline setting.
Is the G400 LST forgiving?
It's forgiving for a low-spin tour head, but not as forgiving as the G400 Max. The 440cc shape and forward CG trade some off-center stability for control and lower spin. Good ball strikers won't mind. Higher handicappers looking for maximum help should look at the Max instead.
Will the G400 LST help if I hit my driver too high?
Yes, that's the exact problem it's built to solve. The forward tungsten weight and low, forward CG bring launch and spin down, so shots come off flatter and more penetrating. You get a drive that holds its line into the wind and runs out on landing instead of climbing and dropping short.
