Players Distance 페어웨이 우드
The G400 is the driver that got a lot of Ping loyalists to finally trade in their older gamer. Ping shrank the head to 445cc, which is smaller than the 460cc most drivers max out at, and that smaller shape does two things. It looks more compact behind the ball, and it moves through the air faster. The Vortec turbulators on the crown and the dragonfly-thin crown paneling are there to cut drag and free up weight to push low and back.
What you get from all that is a high, stable ball flight that holds its line even when you catch it off the toe or heel. The forged T9S+ face is thinner and hotter than what Ping used before, so ball speed is strong, and a tungsten back weight parks the CG low and deep for a lot of forgiveness. Off-center hits don't fall out of the sky and they don't balloon sideways.
This is a fixed-hosel driver, so there's no wrench and no adjustable weights. You pick your loft and shaft up front and that's the club. For a lot of golfers that's a feature, not a limitation, because it takes the second-guessing out of the equation. Point it, swing it, and it launches high and forgiving every time.
- Mid to higher handicap players who want a driver that launches the ball high without fighting a slice or a low, spinny flight.
- Anyone who misses the center of the face regularly and wants those hits to still find the fairway with usable distance.
- Players who don't want to mess with an adjustable hosel or moveable weights and would rather set the loft once and forget it.
- Golfers with moderate swing speeds who need help getting the ball up and carrying it, since the low-back CG does that work for you.
자주 묻는 질문
- Is the Ping G400 driver adjustable?
- No. The standard G400 has a fixed hosel, so you choose your loft when you buy it and it stays there. If you want to tweak loft and lie later, Ping made an adjustable G400 SFT and other models, but this base head is set. Get properly fit up front so the fixed loft matches your launch and spin.
- Why is the G400 head only 445cc instead of 460cc?
- Ping went smaller on purpose. A 445cc head moves through the air with less drag, which helps club speed, and it lets them shape the crown with the turbulators and dragonfly paneling. The smaller size doesn't cost you forgiveness here because the tungsten back weight keeps the MOI high.
- Does the G400 spin too much for faster swing speeds?
- The standard G400 is built for high launch with moderate spin, so it's a great fit for players who need help getting the ball up. If you swing fast and the standard model spins more than you want, the G400 LST version was made to bring spin down. Try both if you're a strong swinger.
- How forgiving is the G400 on off-center hits?
- Very. The low, deep CG and high MOI mean toe and heel strikes hold their speed and direction better than most drivers from its era. You'll lose some distance on a bad miss, but the ball stays in play and won't balloon or dive. That consistency is the main reason it earned a reputation as a fan favorite.
- Is the G400 still worth buying used?
- Yes, if the price is right. It's an older driver now, so the newest models will edge it on raw ball speed, but the G400's forgiveness and high, stable flight still hold up for everyday golfers. It's one of the better value picks on the used market for a player who wants a dependable, easy-to-launch driver.
