Ping Blueprint アイアン

ブレード2019$1099

Ping spent decades building its reputation on forgiveness. The G series, the i series, all of it engineered to rescue mishits. So when the Blueprint arrived in 2019, it raised eyebrows. This was Ping's first true muscle back blade in the modern era, a club that offers the average golfer almost nothing and the elite ball striker almost everything.

The name comes from Ping's own prototyping process. Tour players like Louis Oosthuizen had been testing versions of this head long before it went on sale, and the retail club is essentially that tour prototype with a price tag. It has the shortest blade length Ping had ever produced, a thin topline, and minimal offset. Nothing about it apologizes for what it is.

The lofts tell you who this club respects. A 34 degree 7-iron is about as traditional as it gets in 2019, a full 4 to 6 degrees weaker than the game improvement irons Ping sells down the hall. Distance was never the point here. Flight control, spin, and workability were.

About the Ping Blueprint

Each head starts as forged 8620 carbon steel and goes through a four-step forging process before machining. That matters because Ping had historically been a casting company, so committing to a full forging for the Blueprint was a real shift in how they build irons. The compact shape carries a machined tungsten toe screw, which lets fitters fine-tune swingweight without lead tape and quietly nudges the center of gravity toward the middle of the face. The progressive loft structure runs from 21 degrees in the 3-iron down through a 46 degree pitching wedge, with gapping that stays consistent at 3 to 4 degrees per club. Combined with Ping's hydropearl finish to cut friction through turf and in wet conditions, the package is simple on purpose. There is no hidden cavity, no face insert. What you see at address is what does the work.

ロフト分析

The Ping Blueprint's 7-iron is lofted at 34° - traditional - aligned with classic iron loft standards. For a golfer with an 85-95 mph swing speed, this projects to a 7-iron carry of approximately 136-146 yards. The 5-iron (27°) to 7-iron gap of 7° is well-gapped, which may create overlapping distance windows with similarly lofted fairway woods or hybrids. The pitching wedge at 46° is traditionally lofted, pairing naturally with a standard 52° gap wedge.

Who Should Play the Ping Blueprint?

  • Low single digit players and plus handicaps who strike the center of the face consistently and want to shape shots in both directions.
  • Golfers moving down from a players cavity back like the i210 or iBlade who no longer need the extra help and want tighter flight windows.
  • Anyone who values traditional lofts and predictable gapping over raw distance numbers on a launch monitor.
  • Ping loyalists who have waited years for the company to make a genuine blade instead of another forgiving players iron.

よくある質問

Is the Ping Blueprint too hard to hit for a mid handicapper?

For most mid handicappers, yes. The head is very compact, the sweet spot is small, and mishits lose real distance. A 12 handicap with a pure strike pattern could survive with them, but the i210 or i500 from the same era offers a much friendlier experience without looking bulky.

What lofts does the Blueprint have compared to other Ping irons?

The Blueprint runs traditional lofts: 34 degrees in the 7-iron and 46 in the pitching wedge. That is roughly 3 to 4 degrees weaker than the i210 and far weaker than the G410. Expect to hit each iron shorter than a modern game improvement set, but with higher spin and more stopping power.

Is the Ping Blueprint forged or cast?

Forged. Each head is made from 8620 carbon steel through a four-step forging process, then machined to final shape. That was notable for Ping, which built most of its history on investment casting.

What does the toe screw on the Blueprint do?

It is a machined tungsten weight that Ping uses to dial in swingweight during fitting and assembly. It also shifts a bit of mass toward the toe, which helps center the balance point of such a compact head. It is not adjustable by the player.

Which pros played the Blueprint when it launched?

Louis Oosthuizen was the most visible early adopter and helped test prototypes before release. Several other Ping staff players put Blueprint long or mid irons in play through 2019, often blending them with i210s in the upper end of the bag.
