Players Distance ドライバー

Ping's G400 driver arrived in 2017 and quickly became the club a lot of golfers didn't want to put back in the bag. It took what the older G series did well and tightened the head into something that looked cleaner at address while getting more forgiving, not less. The face is a forged T9S+ material, thinner and hotter than the previous version, and Ping paired it with a tungsten weight set low and back to push the center of gravity toward forgiveness.

At 460cc it gives you a big, confident footprint, and the crown is where much of the engineering hides. Ping thinned it out with what they call Dragonfly technology, which frees up weight to move elsewhere, and the small turbulators near the front cut drag so the head moves faster through the air. You feel the payoff at impact. A drive off the heel still gets airborne and still goes somewhere useful.

This is a forgiving driver first and a distance driver second, and it never pretends otherwise. If you want a club that spins low and rewards only a perfect strike, there are better fits. If you want something that keeps your bad drives in play and your good ones long, the G400 earns its spot.

  • Mid and high handicappers who want a driver that forgives heel and toe misses without giving back much distance.
  • Players fighting a low, weak ball flight who need real help getting drives up in the air.
  • Anyone who cares more about finding the fairway than squeezing out the last few yards of a flushed strike.
  • Slower and moderate swing speeds that benefit from the light Alta CB shaft and the high-launch setup.

よくある質問

Is the Ping G400 driver adjustable?
Yes. The Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel gives you eight positions, adjusting loft up or down by 1.5 degrees. That also nudges face angle slightly, which can help fight a slice or a hook. You can't slide weight around the sole like on some drivers, but the loft range covers most golfers.
How forgiving is the G400 compared to other drivers from its era?
Very. The tungsten back weight pushes MOI high, so off-center hits lose less ball speed and hold their line better than you'd expect. It was one of the most stable drivers of 2017 and still holds up well against newer clubs on mishits.
What lofts does the G400 driver come in?
The standard head came in 9 and 10.5 degrees, with the adjustable hosel letting you fine-tune from there. Ping also built lower-spin LST and draw-biased SFT versions for players who needed a specific ball flight.
Does the G400 spin too much for faster swing speeds?
The standard head launches high with mid spin, which suits most golfers. If you swing fast and want less spin, the G400 LST version was made for that. For moderate speeds, the standard model's spin is right where you want it for carry and roll.
Is the Ping G400 worth buying used in 2026?
If you find one at a fair price, yes. It's a proven, forgiving driver, and the gap between it and current models is small for most amateurs. Just match the shaft flex to your swing and check the face for wear before you buy.
