Low Spin

Tour ドライバー

Ping built the G LS Tec for one job: knock spin off the shot without asking you to give up the forgiveness the G line is known for. LS stands for Low Spin, and this is the driver Ping pointed at faster swingers who launch the ball fine but watch it balloon and fall short. At 440cc the head is a touch smaller than the standard 460cc G, which gives it a more compact look at address that better players tend to prefer.

The recipe here is a low, forward center of gravity. Ping used a tungsten weight positioned low and toward the face, and that placement is what strips spin off your drives. Less spin means a flatter, more penetrating ball flight and more roll when it lands. You still get the turbulators across the crown and the thin Dragonfly crown that let Ping move weight where it counts, so this isn't a spin-killer that punishes you on off-center hits.

Think of it as the tour-minded member of the 2016 G family. If your normal driver leaves the ball hanging in the air too long, the LS Tec brings the trajectory down and gets you extra yards on the ground rather than in the sky.

  • Faster swingers who generate too much backspin and lose distance to a ballooning flight.
  • Better ball-strikers who want a smaller 440cc head and a more compact look at address.
  • Players chasing a lower, more penetrating trajectory with more run-out on firm fairways.
  • Anyone who liked the standard G but needs to take spin off the driver without switching brands.

よくある質問

What's the difference between the Ping G LS Tec and the standard G driver?
The LS Tec has a 440cc head instead of 460cc and a low, forward center of gravity that reduces spin by a few hundred rpm. The standard G is built for higher launch and maximum forgiveness. The LS Tec trades a little of that easy launch for a flatter, lower-spinning ball flight aimed at faster swingers.
Is the G LS Tec adjustable?
Yes. It uses Ping's Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel with five settings, so you can adjust loft up or down by about a degree. That lets you fine-tune launch on top of the low-spin design built into the head.
What swing speed do you need for the G LS Tec?
It suits players with higher clubhead speed who spin the ball too much, usually stronger, faster swingers. If your driver flight tends to climb and drop short, the low-spin CG will help. Slower swingers who need help getting the ball up will do better with the standard G or the SF Tec.
What lofts does the G LS Tec come in?
The LS Tec was offered in 9 and 10.5 degree lofts, and the adjustable hosel lets you shift each roughly a degree in either direction. That covers a range of launch conditions for the faster players this driver targets.
Does the smaller 440cc head make the G LS Tec less forgiving?
It's slightly less forgiving than the 460cc G, but not by much. Ping kept the Dragonfly crown and low CG that make the G line stable, so mishits hold up well. You lose a bit of the standard model's forgiveness in exchange for lower spin and a more compact shape.
